The BEF, British Rowing and the University of Gloucestershire will be hosting a UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level 4 Information day on 23 May.
The Level 4 is the highest award that coaches can achieve and is specifically for high-performing coaches from all environments, whether they are specialists in working with children and young people, adult recreational participants or participants with a focus on performance. The Level 4 combines study as well as practical applications and assessment of coaching.
The information day is designed to provide potential candidates with a clear understanding of the academic expectation and commitment required to take the qualification, which will develop their understanding of their influence as coaches. Attendees will also get the chance to find out more about the application and interview process and hear from coaches about their Level 4 experiences.
Awarded her Level 4 last year, equestrian coach for Great Britain at the World Special Olympic Games in 2019, Julia Gourley commented; “It really helped to improve my coaching skills and showed me where I was stronger and where I was weaker so that I could develop further. Thanks to the interaction I had with coaches from other sports, the course helped me think more outside the box and come up with different ways to deliver sessions to my clients and different ways to achieve their goals.”
Anna Hall, BEF Head of Participation adds: “The information day is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to find out more about the qualification and listen to previous candidates’ experiences. This is a flexible course that has been designed for people from all coaching environments and will allow them to develop their coaching practices by taking inspiration from top sports coaches from across the UK. We are also delighted that this successful programme continues to runs with British Rowing as we find coaches gain so much by learning from each other.”
The Level 4 is open to coaches across all equestrian disciplines.
