FEI President Ingmar De Vos and Manager of the President's Office and NF Liaison Officer Lucinda Arsenio visited BEF headquarters on the 14th August 2019.
A packed itinerary saw them begin by visiting the offices of British Showjumping and British Dressage in Meriden before travelling to Abbey Park. Here they were shown around the offices of the BEF by Chairman Mohamed Elsarky before moving on to the offices of British Eventing, Endurance GB and the BHS.
This was followed by a meeting in the Lecture Theatre which was well represented by all the FEI Disciplines (Chair/CEO), BHS, BEF Board and Tom Sawyer from UK Sport.
Ingmar and Lucinda both gave detailed presentations. Ingmar commented that it was vital that communication between all equestrian stakeholders continued to cement partnerships and emphasised the importance of spreading the FEI's message about equestrian sport and highlighted the message that all gender identities can compete on a truly level platform within our sport.
Lucinda provided insight into the support and guidance that the FEI can offer to National Federations, bringing together all members of the equestrian community. She concluded by saying “The FEI continuously strives with the idea that improvements and a good communication in general can only benefit all actors in the international sports scene. We do believe that, only together with well served clients, can we create a strong and durable patchwork that celebrates our sport's diversity and unity.”
There were then also presentations from a number of BEF Member Bodies, including BHS, British Showjumping, British Equestrian Vaulting, British Eventing, British Carriage Driving, Endurance GB, British Reining and British Dressage.
Tom Sawyer from UK Sport extended his appreciation and commented that he found the day to be extremely informative. The updates provided by Ingmar, Lucinda and the Disciplines were particularly helpful in understanding the context and scope of BEF’s responsibilities.
